Eddie Lewis – This is the Day

Here’s a composition of mine that I wrote based on my own melody for “This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.” The piece is rooted in salsa rhythms but is to be performed as a classical work.

National Color Day

Today is #NationalColorDay and it’s right on time to share more information about the collaborative project my wife, Pearl, and I completed earlier this month.

Theme and Variations for Trumpet – Nothing but the Blood of Jesus

Here is an arrangement I wrote of an old church hymn. The idea was to compose a theme and variations in the style from the late 19th century.

Pearl for Brass Trio

Pearl is a brass trio I composed for and about my wife, Pearl. The recording features myself on flugelhorn, Gavin Reed on horn and David Kirk on tuba.

Trumpets of Jubilee

Trumpets of Jubilee is my most major composition for trumpet ensemble…so far. It features 12 trumpets with plenty of parts to practice!

The Good Shepherd Shuffle

Here’s a jazzy trumpet ensemble you might enjoy. I wrote The Good Shepherd Shuffle in May of this year and we had a lot of fun making the video. Maybe it’s a bit too silly? Oh well! 🙂

Blues This and That

Here’s a recording of me from back in the early 90’s. I am performing with the George Hunter Jazz Orchstra at Miller Outdoor Theater. This is a good example of what KIND of player I was in the 90’s. My style has changed a bit, but I can still turn up the steam when I need to…when it’s appropriate.

Legends of Zing

This is the duet version of a composition of mine that is more popular as a brass quintet. Legends of Zing is one of the tracks from my Vintage Trumpet Treasures album.

Eddie’s Solo on There Will Never Be Another You

Here’s a live performance, captured on a friends phone, of a gig I did in El Paso with Ruben Gutierrez, Eric Unsworth and my dear friend Ricky Malichi. This was recorded in March of 2015.
