This page lists a number of trumpet players who live and work in the greater Houston area. It is not a comprehensive list. Eddie Lewis has lived in the Houston area since 1988 and he is still meeting new trumpet players almost regularly. So this list focuses on those trumpet players he has worked with over those many years.
We will not list phone numbers here, nor other contact information. What we will do is link to their websites and let you contact them according to their own preferences.
Please note that this page is currently under construction. We are working on it as we have time to invest into the project.
Jason is one of my most recent trumpet acquaintances. We don’t see each other very often, but I did get to work with him in my brass quintet on a concert we did of my original compositions. We worked together again later playing duets for a ground breaking ceremony. He is a good player, very friendly and outgoing.
I met Dean back when the two of us were doing a bunch of salsa gigs. That was in the early 1990’s. Dean is a wonderful lead trumpet player. If you are looking for someone who knows the big band style, Dean has the chops and the experience.
Darryl is the one who gave me my very first gigs in town. He is a versatile player who has mastered the horn on the classical side of the fence but also knows how to let his hair down (so to speak) and let things rip as a more commercial player.
George is my partner (along with Ben Pokluda) in leadership of the new Houston jazz sensation, Jazz Forever. He is a member of the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra and does other freelance work around the greater Houston area.
John DeWitt is a long standing member of the Houston Symphony Orchestra. I have a great deal of respect for him, not only as a trumpet player, but as a person. He has always been very nice to me.
Dennis is Houston’s best and most prestigious jazz trumpet player. I first met Dennis at a jam session on Washington Ave. Since then he has played a major role in helping me become established as a professional player here in the Houston area.
