As many of you already know, I have been associated with the State of Texas through my jazz etude contributions. The Texas Jazz Educators’ Association has been using my jazz etudes for over ten years now. For them to now also be suggesting my trumpet choir compositions is yet another honor from my state.

It is says in the Bible that “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown”. And that was the case for me for my earliest years as a composer. People around the world were always more interested in my work than the people I live closest to. But that has changed recently and I am getting more sheet music sales in Houston and Texas in general.

So to be listed on the Texas UIL Prescribed Music list takes that to the next step.
